Is there a way to capture a video from an active browser (ie Firefox)? I know there are "screen capture" programs that record the entire screen, but what if I wanted to just capture.. say.. a YouTube video? Is that even legal?

Not that I have found, I have been looking for one that can record source videos from pages so I can do sound captures and sample some things I have found, but haven't found a program that can do it.

If you want to download from youtube, search for vdownloader. No special player needed.

There is a program called avi screen recorder (can be download loaded for free on www.download.com) where you can chose the size of the capture area

The best program i have come across is called 'Wink' I think its from this site: http://www.debugmode.com/wink/. I only used it once ages ago, but i remember it did the job very well.

that is very true but they are uncompressed so u can edit it also if u got the full i think thers a compression option
