I am currently running* Windows XP. But I wanted to retrieve some files from my old Win98SE drive(I did a clean install of XP rather than an upgrade). My problem is that the last time I used the 98 drive I had a ENVISON CRT monitor. Now I have a Acer P191W LCD monitor. When I started up 98 it went into "plug and play" for the new monitor but could not find drivers for it.
1) It turns out the CD-ROM that came with the monitor is damaged beyond use
2) I went to the ACER website but the only drivers they have for the monitor are for VISTA
Any suggestions?

Did you try running the driver anyway? Sometimes manufacturers only put the version of windows they will support, when a driver they provide actually works for multiple versions of windows.

Actually I retract that.
I took a look at the inf and it won't work because of the lines
[Manufacturer]
%Acer%=Acer,NTx86,NTAMD64
which restrict installation to NT-class OSes (Windows 2000, XP, Vista etc...)

(found that what those lines meant while researching for another thread)
