Can't Read MS Win Popup Window warning

My laptop running Vista has a window that pops up but cannot expand to be read. It is titled in the toolbar "Microsoft Windows" but when looking at it on the desktop it is all scrunched with just the top bar showing "Mic... with the dropdown, expand, and X". The expand click does nothing. Task Mgr does nothing to help me figure out what it might be. I am running 2G of memory on a 6 months old HP DV9000 with a NVIDIA GeForce Go 7150M graphics. I am pretty sure it is a warning box so I would like to know what is up as it pops everytime I am on. :4-dontkno
