Can't open any programs

I am new at this so I hope I put this in the right place. I am only knowlegable enouph to be dangerous. I have a Dell laptop that the kids were using and didn't realize the spyware and antivirus had expired. I ran Super Antispyware, and it found a ton of problems. When it came up with the list, I hit quarantee all. Now, all of a sudden, nothing will open without the little thing coming up that says "what program would you like to use to open the file" For lack of better discription, it's like I eliminated or quaranteed whatever it is that tells the computer what programs to use to open the files. I have no idea what programs to use, so I can't open anything but word docs. Even when I tried to restore the computer, it says "what program would you like to use? Man, what did I do?

Download the attached file to your desktop of the problem computer. Or copy it to that computer using a USB flash drive.
Change the extension of the file from from .TXT to .REG and Double click the file.
When the box pops up asking to which program you want to open the file, click Browse, then navigate to your Windows directory and choose regedit.exe.
Select OK to merge the file in your registry.

I'm having a problem uploading the file, but it's attached at this link
Make sure our clean. First scan with Malwarebytes and remove all instances. If that doesn't work try these fixes
