Good day guys!

Just wondering... this started yesterday: my desktop pc is not accepting my username & password but the weird thing is that when I am removing the LAN Cable in my pc & log in again.. I would be able to login... nothing extraordinary done before shutting down yesterday other than disk cleanup & deleting some of temp files. :cry:Thanks in advance for any reply...

Yes it's my Username & Password for your Windows User Account. I have tried it several times today. I can only login with my account when I remove the LAN Cable. Thank you for the reply!

Please confirm you are referring to the Username & Password for your Windows User Account (as it's not quite clear in your post)?

Yes I believe so but why can I only login when I remove the LAN Cable... just tried to system restore hoping that it would be resolved that way but after restoring it - still the same. Also tried using another NIC (fooled into thinking that it could be a problematic NIC) - still the same.

[Again the last things I did are Disk Cleanup (of course it will never cause that) & deleting temp files through run command %userprofile% and I remember that I deleted a Cofiguration settings type of file named "ntuser" and another NTUSER DAT File (does it have something to do with that?) & lastly clearing all contents of folders named UserData and also Temp & History folders in my Local Settings - Hoping that it would increase my PC Performance which is originally 512 MB RAM only & Intel P4 2.8 GHz with lots of needed SW in it. Then shutdown properly. Any ideas bout this guys?

Thank you Dogg! :)

moving to the Windows OS board...login issues would not be hardware related.

Pull the network cable and log into Windows, then restore all the deleted NTuser files from the Recycle bin if you didn't empty it. They are necessary files with your profile settings.

Login, Right click Computer/Properties go down to Computer Name, domain, workgroup. Press Change Settings/Change. Make sure you are not part of a Domain (unless this is a work computer) other then a Workgroup (you can name your workgroup as long as all computers on your network are on the same named workgroup.

Thank you Fred Garvin! Unfortunately, my reyclebin is already empty. Would there be a way for me to recreate it? :)

If using XP, witih the cable attached, log into Safe Mode with Networking. Log in as the Built In Administrator, if you did not set an Admin password, leave it blank. Go to Start/Run and type control userpasswords and press enter and create a new user with admin rights. Restart the computer and log in as the new user. Once logged in, go to C:\Documents and Settings\oldusername and copy the My Documents, Desktop, Favorties and Start Programs folders and paste them into the new profile name.
