Can't Install Software From More Than One Discs.

Wee bit of a problem here. And I haven't a clue what can have gone wrong. I seem to be unable to install any piece of software that requires more than one disc to install, as, when I eject the first disc during the installation process in order to stick the second disc in, the installation crashes. So far I've tried to install 'The Lord of the Rings - Return of the King', 'Medal of Honor War Chest', and 'The Great Escape', and none of them work, the installation process crashes after the first disc is ejected. The odd thing is that I've installed these games before and they worked perfectly well, and as far as I know, I've changed nothing about the computer hardware or software since I last installed them, apart from linking up a 500GB external hard drive, but, since I'm still installing the software on the PC's internal hard drive, this shouldn't make much difference. Anyone got any ideas what might've happened? The computer is still under warranty, so I need to have some idea of whether or not there is a problem with it, or (as is normally the case) a problem with me! All replies would be great appreciated, thanks in advance.

Hi G.T.Melville

Have you tried temporarily turning off AutoPlay for the optical drive? (right-click the drive in Windows Explorer, select Properties, then the AutoPlay tab, and then Take No Action). If you enjoy a particular autoplay function for certain disk types, you can restore it later on by selecting the desired action and program.

Alternately, you can try using System Restore -- select a restore point from when the installations worked OK.

Best of luck

I would suggest to call and get the warranty service that you have paid for. If there is something wrong inside the computer and having someone else try to fix it could void the warrany.

If you still want to go thru TSF my questions are do you have the recovery/restore disk set for the computer?
What is the make and model of computer?
