Hi
First time here , I have a major problem whist trying to either install or uninstall Acad versions with the message error 1402 could not open key

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Classes\COLfile\Defaulticon

I have full admin rights and have checked the key class for permission
any ideas

You will receive this error message if the required registry key does not have the correct permissions. Registry Edits are risky, so make sure you back up first.

To resolve this issue

1. On the Start menu (Windows), click Run.
2. In the Run dialog box, enter regedit.
3. Locate the key indicated in the error message.
4. Right-click on the key. Click Permissions.
5. In the Permissions dialog box, change the permissions to Full Control for the user.

If this key does have the correct permissions, check the key above it in the hierarchy.

tried that didnt work admin set for full did regedit selected key set permisions still no good , any other idea's ?

sorry, not from me. Good luck though. Have you tried speaking with the manufacturer directly? I am sure this cannot be the first time it has happened.
