I installed the newest Ubuntu and everything seems to be working but I can't install any updates or any new applications. this is what i get every time :

(preceeding information omitted)

everything installs fine up until this point. I am a bit new at linux still so i apologize if the reason for the error is simple.

Start the Ubuntu 11.10 terminal and type:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade

Looks like apt has a corrupt database on your system.
