check the jumpers are correct
try a new eide cable

disconnect the drives and boot up the computer
shut down the computer
reconnect the drives and boot up

ok, first i had another look in the bios, my slave drive (dvd-rom) was not detected so i took it out and replaced it with another drive (i had to use the same ide cable but im gonna go and get a new one today). booted back up and now its not detectin any of the drives, so there must be something wrong with the cable!!! im gonna uninstall the secondary ide channel just to see whats gonna happen???

yeah, no joy with that im off to the shop
