Can't enable clone or spanning geforce4mx

I have a geforce4 MX440 w/8xAGP, running winME.
I wish to display on both the monitor and my tv, either by spanning or by cloning the picture (I'm not picky at this point). I have connected my tv to the vid card with an s-video cable to RCA adapter, to tv (tv has no s-video plug). If I go to display and choose to enable the secondary monitor, it will not stay enabled after I click apply, and does not work before I click apply. If I go to Settings->advanced->Geforce4->nview display mode->device settings->select output device->tv then the picture goes onto the tv, while the monitor goes blank. This is a start, but I really need the picture to be on both screens. My tv is in another room, so there's a lot of yelling across the apartment to find out where to click. By the way, under the geforce4 settings tab "clone" mode is greyed out. Also, I've tried different tv's, none work.
