I posted in the virus section because that's what I assumed I had but it's been a week since I posted and I haven't received a response. I don't know if it's a problem with the computer itself or if it's a virus

I noticed a problem when I couldn't delete files like pictures or software, some files delete and with others a message comes up :
'An unexpected error is preventing the operation. Make a note of this error code, which might be useful if you get additional help to resolve this problem:
Error 0x80070570 the file or directory is corrupted and unreadable'

Also, there have been two messages in the tray at the bottom which come up when I start the laptop. one says there’s a problem with C:\Windows\System32\GfxUI.ex and the second says persistwndname.exe is corrupted

when I tried to do system restore a message prevents it with : 'Windows has detected file system corruption on Acer (C:). You must check the disk errors before it can be restored.'

Then when I schedule for the disk errors to be checked when it restarts it never checks them on restart because a black screen comes up saying C: NTFS type file needs to be checked for consistency but it doesn't check it

The computer has crashed a few times going to a bluescreen.

Each time I switch it on it always goes to a blackscreen saying that C: needs to be checked for consistency and that a system restore is needed (but the issue is never resolved)

(I'm using Windows 7)

I've been directed back here
Who directed you back here? You have to patient until you get a clean bill of health from the security forum.
Why you are waiting. On another computer download the ISO image for Seatools from my signature. Burn the image to CD using IMGBurn also in my signature. Boot off of the newly created CD and run the Short and Long tests on the HDD. This may solve your problem, but if it fails either test the HDD needs to be replaced.

Hi. I don't see any signs of infection in those logs.

I do see this:

Which relates to the issue you reported when trying to run chkdsk.

The biggest issue I see aside from that is two antivirus installed.

As stated in our pre-posting sticky topic...

NEW INSTRUCTIONS - Read This Before Posting For Malware Removal Help - Tech Support Forum

While this may seem like greater protection, it can cause problems including slowdowns, system hangs or even crashes. This can happen if both AntiVirus applications attempt to access the same file at the same time. This may cause the applications to interfere with each other, or cause the system to lock up. It can also be a drain on system resources, making a machine run slower than it should.

I see you have more than one Anti-Virus program installed, AVG and McAfee. Choose one to keep and uninstall the other.

Any antivirus program must be removed via add/remove program.
For any program that doesn't have an add/remove entry, you will have to do this:
re-install the program -> reboot -> uninstall

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

If you choose to uninstall McAfee, also run the McAfee Removal Tool.
Download the McAfee Removal Tool
http://download.mcafee.com/products/licensed/cust_support_patches/MCPR.exe

Double click on MCPR.exe to launch it, then Click Run. A window should appear and disappear, this is normal. A new window should popup and begin the uninstall. When prompted to reboot your computer type Y

If you choose to uninstall AVG, also run the AVG Remover from their site
AVG | Download tools and utilities

You want the 64bit version
http://download.avg.com/filedir/util/avgrem/avg_remover_stf_x64_2013_2706.exe

Other than that, if the issue persists, I'd suggest you continue in the new thread you created in the Windows 7 section of the forum so you can get assistance on that issue.
tetonbob advised me to continue on with this thread if the problems I had detailed above still remained

Hi, I had to get a spare cd, but I don't quite understand the instructions, what's the ISO image? Also, can I download and burn it on my computer or does it have to be another one? Do you know what the problems I'm having are a result of?

Something new that's happened in the last few days is that I can't save word documents as save as, it keeps saying there's a permission error

Try Enabling the Hidden Administrator's account. Log out of your admin user profile, and log in as the Administrator. Does everything work now?

As for the instructions in the quote, if you can access your computer and burn a CD on it, then you can use this computer, but you may want to do it on another computer.
Download and install IMGBurn from my signature. Now download the ISO image for Seatools and save it to your desktop (an ISO image, is an image file that is ready to be burned to a CD or USB Flash drive and if you use an image burning program like IMGBurn it will end up being a Bootable CD)
Start IMGBurn and choose to Burn Image File to Disc. Browse to the Seatools ISO image file you saved earlier.
Once the burn is complete, restart the computer with the newly created CD in it. If you computer is set to boot to CD rom drive first, you will see the message Press Any Key To Boot From CD. In the Seatools program, select your HDD and run the Short and Long tests on the drive. If either fails, the HDD needs to be replaced.
