i am running windows xp sp2 on a dell dimension 3000 desktop. i researched that kasperskys tdsskiller would help to remove a google redirect virus that i had. tdsskiller ran fine and the problem was solved, however now after restarting i am unable to connect to the internet, everything else is fine. i get a dns error in any web browser, i tried a system restore but.it says i am unable to restore to an earlier point. i need my computer fixed asap. i also tried running ipconfig but.i was unable to, again.a dns error. k feel that something in the registry was affected. please help

Are you connecting Wired or Wirelessly? Unplug the power plug to the Modem and the Router. Plug the power into just the Modem (unless you have a modem/router combo) When all the lights come up, plug in the power to the Router (unless combo of course)
Now Go to Start/Run and type inetcpl.cpl and press enter/Connections/LAN Settings. Make sure all the boxes are unchecked. Now go to Start/Run and type ncpa.cpl and press enter. Right click the Local Area connection/Properties scroll down to Internet Protocol (TCP-IP)/Properties. Make sure Obtain an IP Address and DNS Server Address Automatically are both checked. Now go to Start/Run and type CMD and press enter. IN the Command Prompt type ipconfig /release and press enter. the IP Address changes to 0.0.0.0 Now type ipconfig /flushdns and press enter. Now type ipconfig /renew. Now type ipconfig /all. You should have a new IP address try it again. If you still cannot connect please include the text output of your ipconfig /all in your next post

Go to your network adapter right click on it. Select properties. Make sure TCP/IP version 4 and 6 is check marked. click on ok. If version 6 (v6) is not shown click on install>protocols TCP/IP version 6 select it click on ok.

If all is checked marked highlight TCP/IP v4 click on properties make sure
"Automatically obtain IP" and "DNS are selected.

Are you doing the ipconfig commands in the command prompt? Are you logged in as administrator? Have you gone to Start/All Programs/Accessories/Command Prompt and right clicked the shortcut and Run As Administrator? There are several exemption entries that Spy Bot created in your Host File. Some of these may no longer be needed.
