Cant access router settings

1458 Views 5 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  johnwill
Well I have a Netgear MR814v2 router and I need to access the settings to change some ports. Usually I just type in 192.168.0.1 into my browser and enter my username and password and it takes me to the settings. When I try this right now, it takes me to the login screen, but it never loads. I see the 'NetGear Router Setup' on the title bar of Firefox, but it just can't go any further. I've been trying for too long now. Thanks for any help.

If something has gone wrong with the router's initialization, you may need to do a factory reset and reconfigure it. That would be my first step.
I will try that. Will this mess up all the IP settings or something? Not much of a networking nerd, but just want to make sure before I do it.
Let's see this:

For 98 or ME, Start, Run, COMMAND to open a DOS window:
--- or ---
For 2K or XP, Start, Run, CMD to open a DOS window:

Type the following command:

IPCONFIG /ALL

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.
Hmm ok.

Well, you're using the correct IP address to access the router. Other than resetting it and reconfiguring, I'm at a loss to explain how I'd address this issue. :)
