Cannot Reactivate windows.

Hi,

I recently upgraded to 2gb ram and windows told me to reactivate windows. I take the key off the back of my computer and type it in. It then says the maximum ammount of usages for this key has been meet. I have a countdown in days and im down to one day. Ive never typed in the key in before now so why cant i use it? If i cant use it will i have to rebuy windows?
I have Windows XP Pro SP2.

Hi Master-of-Doom...

you won't need to rebuy XP but you will need to call them to explain the hardware change and answer a few questions then they'll issue you with a new key which you can reactivate your copy of XP with.
