I have been using Quickbooks Pro 2007 on Windows XP for 9 months, but last month it stopped working. When I try to open the program the Quickbooks logo bar comes up with the dots that indicate it is initializing. When it gets to the point where it normally expands to the full program window to go to the welcome screen it simply closes itself and gives me the standard Windws error message: Quickbooks has encountered a problem and can't open." Nothing has changed that I am aware of. I have been searching for solutions for over a month and have not been able to figure out the problem.

Try uninstalling the application, rebooting your computer, and reinstalling it. This should clear out any corrupted files that may be causing this issue.
