What browser and version is the customer running?
Just to be sure its not something the customer checked or something try:

Open IE > Tools > Internet Options > Advanced > Restore Defaults > Close browser > reset system.
Be sure the customer isnt running a proxy server or cache/proxy server such as Squid. If he is (to share the net) he will almost definately need to instruct the application to open the SSL ports, else he will get errors. Most proxy's will block the SSL ports by default for security reasons, so they may need to be 'allowed'.

If not, its something to do with his browser or his host's DNS.
