Linkmaster thank you for your help.

First a quick summary.
The errors remain the same.

windows cannot find C:\WINDOWS\system32\scvhost.exe
could not load or run C:\WINDOWS\system32\scvhost.exe specified in the register

cygwin command prompt and safe mode command line: cammand line disabled by administrator
same is true for the windows command prompt when a command is attempted
must boot to administrator in safe mode

Below is fresh hijackthis.log, and the Panda Active Scan log
With AVG Anti-Spyware I forgot to select generate report after all scans.
After sending this message I will repeat the complete procedure you indicated so that I can provide you a AVG Ant-Spyware log and fresh hijackthis.log

I have removed C:\Documents and Settings\tdwebste\Desktop\wintools\UBCD4WinV30.exe
which showed up in the Panda Active Scan log. I have found the linux based ubcd34 works better as general repair CD.

Ok lets see if we can't get rid of that :

Download ComboFix to your Desktop

Reboot to Safe mode
Restart your computer and begin tapping the F8 key on your keyboard just before Windows starts to load
If done right a Windows Advanced Options menu will appear.
Select the Safe Mode option and press Enter

Make sure you have Disconnected from the Internet !

Double click on combofix.exe
Follow the prompts

Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall

When finished, it will produce a log for you

Reboot to Normal Mode

Post a fresh HijackThis log along with the ComboFix log here
(You may need to use several replies as the logs may be cut off)

Thank you !

Would like you to do the following : (if you have already run ComboFix run this as well and post both logs, if not just run this) Sorry for the confusion!

Download SDFix© by andymanchesta and save it to your desktop.
Double click SDFix.exe and and it will extract the files to %systemdrive%
(Drive that contains the Windows Directory, typically C:\SDFix)

Reboot to Safe mode
Restart your computer and begin tapping the F8 key on your keyboard just before Windows starts to load
If done right a Windows Advanced Options menu will appear.
Select the Safe Mode option and press Enter

Navigate to and Open the extracted SDFix folder and double click RunThis.bat to start the script.
Type Y to begin the script.
It will remove the Trojan Services then make some repairs to the registry and prompt you to press any key to Reboot
Press any Key and it will restart the PC.
Your system will take longer that normal to restart as the fixtool will be running and removing files.
When the desktop loads, the Fixtool will complete the removal and display Finished, then press any key to end the script and load your desktop icons.
Once the desktop icons load the SDFix report will open on screen and also save into the SDFix folder as Report.txt

Finally open the SDFix folder on your desktop
Copy and Paste the contents of the Report.txt file along with a fresh HijackThis log here (and the ComboFix log if you ran it)
(You may need to use several replies as the logs may be cut off)

all logs, no virus found, errors still exist

Linkmaster, I ran this procedure again, with all logs this time, but same errors remain

Below is fresh hijackthis.log, AVG Anti-Spyware log, and the Panda Active Scan log
The Panda Active Scan log was delayed because of the internet outage across asia.

First a quick summary.
After windows login, the following error was displayed twice.

The cammand prompt has been disabled by your administrator
Booting into safe mode as administrator is the only way I can get a command prompt.

I am not sure if the Fixtool was able to run after reboot into normal mode

This step did not happen:
When the desktop loads, the Fixtool will complete the removal and display Finished, then press any key to end the script and load your desktop icons.
Once the desktop icons load the SDFix report will open on screen and also save into the SDFix folder as Report.txt

Errors Gone, Ya!!

Errors Gone, Ya!!

I was able the run comboFix as the infected user in safe mode after I enabled the command prompt in the registry. Running comboFix as administrator did not fix the errors.

Re-installed norton anti-virus,

P.S. norton missed this virus in the first place, I always manually scan files before I run them. Which anti-virus do you recommend?

YAY !!!!! Gone !!??

Your log seems to be OK now !!

Just one more thing :
**Turn off System Restore**
On the Desktop, right-click My Computer
Click Properties
Click the System Restore tab.
Check "Turn off System Restore"
Click Apply, then click OK and Reboot

**Turn ON System Restore**
On the Desktop, right-click My Computer
Click Properties
Click the System Restore tab.
UN-Check "Turn off System Restore"
Click Apply, then click OK and Reboot

How is your system running now ??

Here are a few tools that I recommend for protecting your system and reduce the risk of infection again !!

Real Time Prevention
SpywareBlaster© by Javacool Software :
*Prevent the installation of ActiveX-based spyware, adware, browser hijackers, dialers, and other potentially unwanted pests
*Block spyware/tracking cookies in Internet Explorer and Mozilla/Firefox.
*Restrict the actions of potentially dangerous sites in Internet Explorer.
*Consumes no system resources

*Download, run, check for updates, download updates, select all, protect against checked. All done
*Check for updates every couple of weeks. If you have any errors running the program like a missing file see the link at the bottom of the javacool page
IESpyad© by EHowes : This will add several hundred Restricted Sites to the Restricted Site Zone in IE.

Download and Install a HOSTS File
A Hosts file is a plain text file which prevents your computer from inadvertently connecting to malware, spyware and adware sites by redirecting the connection request back to your own machine address (127.0.0.1)
If you use a proxy server, or if you are on AOL, or if you use Norton to scan e-mail, be sure to read the special instructions

If you download and install BlueTack's HOSTS Manager first, you can use it to handle your HOSTS file download, edits, and most any other HOSTS issue

Download and Read an excellent instruction about HOSTS files (the Bluetack version) HERE
**Please note that a large HOSTS file (over 135 kb) may slow down the machine. This only occurs in W2K and XP.
To fix this:
Go to Start, Run, type in services.msc then hit OK
Scroll down to DNS Client, Right-click and select: Properties
Click the drop-down arrow for Startup type
Select: Manual, click Apply/Ok and restart
**

You can download the MVPS HOSTS file and see another HOSTS file tutorial HERE
The BlueTack version is more aggressive than the MVPS and targets adware sites as well as more dangerous ones
If you have ZoneAlarm, you will have to give permission to Unlock the present default HOSTS file before you copy / install the new one.
(ZoneAlarm resets the "lock" after each reboot.)

File Cleaners (temp, prefetch, cookie, etc)
2000/XP Only
ATF (Atribune Temp File) Cleaner© by Atribune
All Windows
CCleaner© by CCleaner.com

Spyware Scanners:
Some FREE Spyware Scanners for Home use, that will detect and remove trojans, dialers, malware, browser hijackers, tracking components and other forms of Spyware :
SUPERAntiSpyware Home© by SUPERAntiSpyware.com
Ad-aware SE© by Lavasoft
Spybot S&D© by Safer-Networking

Good Free Antivirus Programs:
AVG© by Grisoft
AntiVir© by H+BEDV Datentechnik GmbH
Avast© by ALWIL Software
NOTE:Remember always have just 1 antivirus program running at a time. Having more than one running causes a conflict between the programs !! You can use one as a backup to run manually

Windows Update:
It's also very important to keep your system up to date to avoid unnecessary security risks
Windows Update

Firewalls:
If you have an "always on" internet connection, such as DSL or Cable, I recommend a Firewall.
A firewall will make your pc invisible to the outside world and will filter the outgoing and incoming traffic on your pc.
For a good idea of how vulnerable your system(s) are go to GRC
Scroll down to "Shields Up" Click on "Proceed" Then click on "Common Ports"to scan your ports.
Free Personal Firewalls :
Sunbelt Kerio Personal Firewall© by Sunbelt
Jetico Personal Firewall© by Jetico, Inc.
Comodo Personal Firewall© by Comodo Group (XP & 2000 only)

Alternative Browsers :
Use ANY browser besides Internet Explorer, almost every exploit is crafted to take advantage of an IE weakness
FireFox© by Mozilla
Opera© by Opera Software ASA

Always keep your Antivirus & Spyware Removal Tools current with the latest definitions and updates !!

Using these tools and keeping them updated will reduce the risk of future infections!!

Do you have any questions??

I only keep windows is to run CAD. Otherwise I would have blown this crapy OS away long ago!
Skipped first steps

Selecting the appropriate software to install. I don't run IE and I reject IE 7 upgrades, because my friends have suffered explorer crashes after upgrade. Opera can read native svg files from ofther software without error. Firefox has better addons.

I have windows update on, but manual select. I don't want windows latest software. Bug fixes yes, IE 7 no, I think by this summer it should be stable.

Does IESpyad work for other browsers? I have skipped this step.
IESpyad© by EHowes : This will add several hundred Restricted Sites to the Restricted Site Zone in IE.
hmm, I know what a host file is. And I add entries to mine to access my svn and trac server. This looks strange to me. Why isn't this a firewall deny host list, something like ipset for iptables in linux? Doesn't seem like a good implementation. skipping

I currently use kaspersky anti-hacker as local firewall, finger print checker. Jetico firewalls looks good.

Switching to
Avast© by ALWIL Software
antivirus

Firefox and Opera, have there own file cleaners. I am looking at the cleaners you suggested and deciding.

Cheers, Thanks for all your help!!!
