When I upgraded my Intel 845GRG M/B's bios from an year old revision to latest (as per intel) RG84510a.86a.0033.P17.eb my
52X CD ROM (samsung) and 48X Asus CD RW are no more detected in bios .
But strangely enough it is detected by Win XP pro(sp1) and not by win me in my dual boot system.
Plus when I tried reinstalling win XP pro the win XP pro setup does not detect either of drives after rebooting during process.
I am stuck with this problem . I dont have older bios nor know where can I get it if it is the cause of problem.

I went to BIOS and I found out following main headindgs

Main Advanced Security Power Boot Exit

In advanced options I found something relevent to IDE drives. It had following headings

PCI
Boot
Peripheral
IDE Configuration---->
-IDE controller [Primanry]
- PCI IDE Bus Master [Enabled ]
-HardDisk Pre Relay [Disabled ]

>Primary IDE Master [ST380021B]
>Primary IDE Slave [Not Detected]
>Seccondary IDE Master [Not Detected]
>Seccondary IDE Slave [Not Detected]

Diskette Conf
Ect.

could not find Auto detect option . [Not detected] in front of Primary IDE Slave, Seccondary IDE Master , Seccondary IDE Slave was grayed out.
I did not see any standard CMOS features option.

Please Help.

It sounds like you may have the wrong BIOS flashed onto your MB. I'd double-check that, and also try restoring the backup BIOS from the upgrade process.

Why did you upgrade anyway? I don't upgrade the BIOS unless there's a real problem that it will correct.

Thanks Johnwill for input.

Actually I had installed wrong BIOS when my BIOS stopped detecting CD rom drives.
Then to correct that I double Checked and installed the latest and right BIOS.
I didn't know flashing BIOS would cause so many serious problems.
I don't have older bios.
How should I correct this problem now?
Please Help.
