cannot access laptops

I am running win 7 ult on all three computer. two laptops and one desktop. I have all firewalls disabled on all 3 computers. network discv on, file sharing on, everything on. I can access the laptops shared files through the wired desktop but cannot access the laptops through laptops. I can access the wired desktop through the laptops also. Is this some sort of wireless security setting in win 7 or possible router issue? Using a Linksys WRT160nv3 router. Thanks for the help in advance.

Hello and Welcome to TSF!

Disable all Firewall/Security Software on all the computers for now.

=============================
Enable Netbios over TCP/IP on all the computers.

=============================
Verify that the File and Printer Sharing is enabled on all your computers in the network by following this guide.

============================
Turn off password protected sharing
1. In the Sharing and Discovery section of the Network and Sharing Center window, click the down arrow next to Password protected sharing.
2. Within the Password protected sharing settings, click Turn off password protected sharing, and then click Apply

I have done all that. I can see the laptops in the browser but it will not open them. I cannot ping them either but I can ping the desktop that is hard wired to router from the laptops.

Failure to ping a computer or device is a Firewall issue.
Disable the firewall from the router for now and see if it helps. What type of Security do you have? WEP or WPA?

firewall is disabled in router and I am using WPA2 security. Made no difference. Still cannot ping but I can ping the wired desktop computer. Thanks for your help. PS: I can ping and traceroute by IP all computers from the router diagnostics page.

Can you please provide an ipconfig /all of all 3 computers and post them here?
Click on Start => in Quick search type the word cmd on the blank field. From the black screen, type the word ipconfig /all and press enter. Right click on the black screen or Command prompt then choose Select All and Paste the results here.

Try this please:
Locate and access your network sharing center then go to advanced sharing. Locate the Encryption option. Lower the encryption from 128 to 40-56 bit encryption.

Lowered the encryption and still cannot access or ping the wireless computers from the wireless computers. I can still access the wireless computers from the wired computer and vise versa.
