My laptop is HP NC6230, my HDD is nearly died and would like to buy new one, I'm not sure whether it supports SATA or no.

If you have a SATA hard disk now, it will support SATA, but if it has an IDE hard disk now, it will only support IDE.
my original one is ata-6....maybe it doesn't support~
crazijoe, thanks, as I'm doing my dissertation, buy a new one will be much quicker..
Then you can only get an ATA-6 hard disk. You will still notice a significant improvement if you upgrade to a 7200 RPM ATA-6 hard disk from a 4200 RPM or 5400 RPM.
