thinking of buying LG W2261VP-PF, but it only has vga,dvi-d, and hdmi outputs - one of the uses i want from it is to play gamecube/maybe a bit of n64 through it (note this is not the main use) can i just buy for example a vga to composite cable adapter and bosh it in? or is it not that easy?

i dont really want to have to buy a tv just to be able to play GC shiz, or have to buy a tv tuner for my pc...

any info on how this could work is much appreciated.

im thinking s-vid is the best signal i can get from the gamecube am i right there?

Hey mate, Welcome to TSF,

You are correct that Gamecubes are only capacity of SDTV (ie not HDTV).

In this case, I believe the lead suggestion should work.

Hope this helps,
Redeye

yo thanks for your reply. In theory it should work but ive done a lot of research and apparently just a cable wont do it...if this fails would something like this work? not sure if u can 'swap' whats meant to be the output...

W997 PC VGA to TV Video AV Signal Converter video on eBay (end time 30-Mar-11 03:51:41 BST)

also in terms of tv tuners there is supposed to be quite bad latency issues making most games un-playable :(

why is this so difficult! **** you nintendo!

Easycap USB 2.0 Video TV DVD VHS Audio Capture Adapter on eBay (end time 27-Mar-11 11:14:50 BST)

would this work for more 'complicated' games such as zelda or something fast pased like super smash bros? if tv tuners struggle with super smash it doesnt look too hopeful for this baby
Yes, I used it to record my xbox before i got a PVR.

Here is a sample:
