I am wondering if it is ok to install a different bios than the one that is recommended by the manufacturer for my laptop. I am desperate to solve my problems and am wondering if they are bios related.

I'm afraid not. The BIOS is very specific and even updating to one for a slightly different model could render your mobo useless. Why do you think your problems are BIOS related?
