hi guys this will probs be my first of many posts ,
i have several pcs ,kids have their own in their own in their bedrooms (my cast offs) i want to be able to leave my main machine by itself from modem and connect others by the router i have linksys wrt54g as i have tried loads of times setting up on router but when trying to set up ports for multiplayer shoot up games (c.o.d/battlefield 2) speeds at a crawl any advice or assistance would be grateful as im sick off em messin my pc up and they are constantly moaning when they will have internet connection in their rooms .

I am confused as to why you're trying to put yourself on the other side of the router. Unless you have an ISP that offers multiple public IP addresses, that won't work. Why don't you just connect to the router like all the other machines and just turn off file/print sharing if you don't want them accessing your machine. You could also make sure you have a password protected login...
