Hello,

I have recently purchased a Camnex ER15 MP3 Player, but when I connect it to my Windows XP, there are no drivers found.

The MP3 player came with a CD, which includes the user guide and AVI converter, but no drivers.

I also visited their website (camnex.ca), but only the CD content is available for my player on the website, which doesn't include the driver.

The product is Windows XP and 2000 compatible.

I would really appreciate if someone can help me get the MP3 player installed on my PC. Thanks.

Hi ali38510 and welcome to TSF

According to their FAQ's

Q: Why doesn't the computer recognize the MP3 Player?
A1: The MP3 Player may not be compatible with your operating system. Please see this chart for compatible operating systems with your model of MP3 Player. Please note that for Windows 2000 and XP, the operating system will automatically install the MP3 Player upon first connection and a separate driver is not required.
So when you connect the MP3 player to your computer, does it tell you that it's unable to locate a driver, or it does nothing and you are unable to see if via 'My Computer'? Have you tried a different USB port?

Can you check you Device Manager for any warnings (yellow exclamation points)
Right click on 'My Computer' and select 'Manage'. In the Computer Management window, select 'Device Manager' on the left and look for any warning signs.

Do you have the latest updates from Microsoft?

Thank you very much for your reply.

I have Automatic updates turned on and I seem to have the latest updates.

When I plug in my mp3 player in the USB port, I see the message 'Found New Hardware'.

Then the Found New Hardware Wizard comes up. I have tried insatalling the software automatically and from a specified location, but everytime the message says:

Cannot Install this Hardware.
'The hardware was not installed because the wizard can't find the necessary software'

In Device Manager, the device shows up as ? USB Device, with a yellow exclamation mark.

I have tried right-clicking on that and selecting 'Update Driver', but still the same problem.

I have also tried uninstalling that device, the unplugging my player, and then reinstalling it.

I tried plugging the player on different USB ports. But I just can't get the device installed.

Any feedback is much appreciated. Thanks.

Have you installed all the software on the cd? Try browsing the CD in Windows to make sure there are no drivers available on it.

Here's a link to the owner's manual. I noticed there are some instructions on connecting the camera as a USB flash drive in Windows - cam must be powered off when connecting.

Actually, another FAQ says no drivers are required
Please note that for Windows 2000 and XP, the operating system will automatically install the MP3 Player upon first connection and a separate driver is not required.

Hi,

I have installed everything on the CD (It contains the AVI Converter, and two user guides English and French). I have installed the AVI Converter also, but I still get the yellow exclamation mark in Device Manager, and the message that driver software could not be found.

Go to Start/Run and type devmgmt.msc and press enter. In the Device Manager if there is a yellow mark for your MP3 player, or under USB if there is an Unknown Device, right click it and uninstall it. Now remove the MP3 player, and restart the computer. When the computer comes back up, plug the MP3 Player directly into the Back USB port of the computer and not in the front port (desktop) and not through a hub. If this still fails to install try it on another computer. If it fails on that too then the device is bad and needs to be returned.

Ali, in addition to SpunkFunks instructions, did you follow the instructions in the manual?

4. Transferring Songs and Other Files from PC to MP3 Player
Please note that the MP3 Player must be OFF in order to establish a connection with
the computer. If it is ON it will only charge.
1) You do not need to use any software programs to transfer your audio files from your
computer to the MP3 Player. Locate your MP3/WMA files in your computer by opening the
folder that contains these files. Once you have this folder opened, there are three ways to
transfer your songs to the MP3 Player:
a) Right-click on any song and choose “Send To.” Then select “Camnex MP3”
corresponding to the MP3 Player by left-clicking it.
b) Simply “Drag and Drop” your files from your audio folder to the “Camnex
MP3” corresponding to the MP3 Player. To do this, you must have both the
window of the audio folder and the window of the “Camnex MP3” open.
c) Another method is “Copy and Paste.” Again you need both the window of the
audio folder and the window of the “Camnex MP3” open. Right-click on any
song and select “Copy.” Then right-click on the window of the “Camnex MP3”
and select “Paste.”
