C7180 Scan Error message

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the latest vista drivers for the HP C7180 All-in-One Printer; however, I am still unable to scan. I am using a desktop HP Touchsmart [IQ804] computer with Vista Home Premium Edition 64-bit. I have accessed and followed some trouble shooting that guided through a power source check and resetting the printer-- to no use. Although the system and printer can connect wirelessly, I have opted to connect with USB during the installation. the C7180 HP All in One printer has turned into a very difficult experience. Can you try to make a photocopy and see if it works since making a photocopy uses the scanning glass as well.
I have tested the "copy" function and it worked fine. The Print functions also appear to be normal. This all-in-one package has been a source of constant frustration, I am just about ready to give up and perhaps should purchase a simple dedicated scanner that is reliable. I am dissapointed in HP all-in-one products. I appreciate your response.
