Hello everyone, I've wanted to get in to PC gaming for a while but never knew how to start. So I'm here for advice off you guys...

My PC is very basic and cant run practically any of the latest and best games, sooo I can either buy a whole new set up or I could just get a knew processor as I'm limited on money I'd prefere to just get a processor but would my current screen work fine with a good processor and would it display HD?

I can get a quite a bit of money together at the moment (£300-£550) would this be enough for a good quality set up/Processor?
I will be on the internet as much as I'm gaming and I'll be playing games like Fifa, Football Manager, Skyrim , the skyrim MMO (when released),probably GTA 5, maybe call of duty or battlefield so I need something that will run these well.

So if anyone can suggest some processors or general tips , would be very grateful.
BTW try not to use to much PC terminology as most of it will mean very little to me.

Processor is the term of the Central Processing Unit or CPU which is just one component of a PC. This is a chip that fits onto the motherboard. If you're looking to upgrade your PC, we would need to know what you currently have. Brand and model if it's a pre-built system or the parts you have if it is home built.

You could easily build a new PC for £400-£500, for less than that an upgrade may be a better choice. System builders probably have machines in the £500 range that would be decent for gaming.

That's enough money for a whole new system if you wanted. I would highly recommend picking a system via the link in Flight's post.

What is each make and model number of the parts found in your system? Including the PSU.

Buying a gaming pc!

Forget my old post now i want your advice on buying a pc or just point me to a good system that you know is excellent for the price. I will have 500 pound at the most for the pc, i will play games like elder scrolls online, fifa , football manager and maybe some first person shooters if it runs them well enough. So post away, thankuu

Re: Buying a gaming pc!

Do you really want to buy a prebuilt system they invariably use lower quality parts, usually worth around half what they will charge you, the rest is for them building and pure profit.you could do better building your own

Agreed! Follow our build guide here:

Look here: http://www.techsupportforum.com/showthread.php?t=668661

I plan to build the $800 (£550) AMD setup which should work for you also.

Build you own, you will not regret it. Use the guide here it's pretty good and the part selections are GREAT. There is nothing like the satisfaction of building your own

I will build one when I am older, because my parents will totaly freak when they see me building my own(They think I'm going blind when I do stuff like that.)
 That's just what the Hardware team needs; to be able to say they guided a blind person through building a PC.
