I have a HP pavillion dv1000, and it has a built-in microphone/webcam combo. recently there was a power surge that resulted in a corrupted hard drive, and after I got the HD replaced, the microphone no longer works. I already searched through the forum and tried the advice in http://www.techsupportforum.com/f108/solved-microphones-_-166704.html, but it didn't work.

I'm not sure what the information is on the mic, or how to find it, for that matter.

I have a HP Pavilion dv9700 and for months I have been trying to figure out why my built-in mic stopped working. I searched all the forums on many sites and none of the driver downloads or updates worked. I was at wits end b/c I couldnt seem to find an answer so I finally gave up and lowered my laptop screen just a little bit and noticed the level of my mic being raised, which was due to my music playing. After all the searching and troubleshooting, my mic worked all along. My guess is that there is something wrong with the wiring. I have not yet taken my laptop apart to see whats up with the wiring but will post my findings. So, if youre having this problem and nothing else has worked, lower your screen and watch the mic levels, they just might start blinking. Hope this helps!
