i am going to build a PC. I am buying all the parts and i wanted to know if i to do any setup to the motherboard or other major parts during the building process or if i could just plug everything together. Im not new to adding parts to the computer i have now. I just want to know if i need to do any special setup for the motherboard or other parts but if someone could give me some specifics it would be much appreciated.

here are the parts im looking at now
-motherboard http://store.yahoo.com/directron/epiamii12000.html
-RAM http://store.yahoo.com/directron/256266.html
-CD/DVD COMBO http://store.yahoo.com/directron/snm242.html
-HARD DRIVE http://store.yahoo.com/directron/mk4025gas.html
-POWER SUPPLY http://store.yahoo.com/directron/hec160srat.html

im not even sure all these parst will work together. My goal was to build a small computer inside something unique and not a regular tower.

$200 for the motherboard and CPU combo? Thats too much. It's a weak CPU and it looks like its years old. You can get a lot better for the same price.

RAM is too cheap, I'd get something better.

The HD is for notebooks only.

If your building a low budget PC, here is my recomendation:

Case:http://www.infotechnow.com/shopping/shopexd.asp?id=1087
Motherboardhttp://www.infotechnow.com/shopping/shopexd.asp?id=3419
CPUhttp://www.infotechnow.com/shopping/shopexd.asp?id=2639
Memory http://www.infotechnow.com/shopping/shopexd.asp?id=1935
CD/DVD Combo http://www.infotechnow.com/shopping/shopexd.asp?id=3030
Hard Drive http://www.infotechnow.com/shopping/shopexd.asp?id=1351

I built the exact same computer for my friend (except for the burner) and its hella good for its price. Should come around to $550 or so. Is that something you wanted? Less expensive? Something not as fast?

It's only a suggestion :)

Kioga,
I'm sorry to say that your build list sucks in every possible way

You've got obsolete desktop stuff mixed in with notebook stuff :sayno:
And from a vendor that is not exactly A-list when it comes to price/performance.

I would suggest that you describe your needs and budget and the folks here will help you put together a great machine.

Regards,
JF

thanks for the response and the tips but i planned on making a custom case out of something unique not just a tower. thats why i picked the strange motherboard and other parts. I tried finding the smallest parts i could find. As for the hard drive i was hoping i could find a converter or something to let it work with everything else. i want to save space. My big question though is there any tweaking or setup to a motherboard that has to be done before i can get it to work. Thanks again

kioga,
I get it now.

Found a unique case at Lian-Li

Not micro, takes ATX mobo, but quite unusual and maybe a collector's item someday.
