Hi,

!!! If you think "you will never be able to do this with that little money" or "you spoiled kid, why aren't you satisfied with what you've got?" At ANY point, STOP reading, it's a waste of your time, and please do say so in a reply !!!

Of course there are already many threads on this subject, and of course I will do my research on this subject too, but I figured it would be handy if I got some assistance from more experienced people for choosing the right hardware and correctly assembling the pieces in a later stage. I have got a notebook, I believe it is a mid-range model, which performs excellently when browsing the web, writing and reading documents, and playing media like films and music. It is a nice looking machine and the keyboard feels great. The screen is the perfect size for me for a notebook and I use it all the time to move around the house mainly for watching streaming video. The trackpad has some great features which make scrolling, for example, feel very natural. When it comes to gaming, the computer performs quite well when playing games like GTA IV, and Battlefield 3 on lower settings. Flight Simulator X, which I use a lot and I hope someone here knows something about, sometimes makes me happy by having a very high frame rate with some higher settings. But, not rarely, the frames drop to about 2 to 6 fps, even on the lowest possible settings, and the entire pc becomes slow, and that makes me want to punch the notebook in the face and go cry in a corner. That's probably caused by FSX not being tweaked and optimized, but I will post some of this to an FSX specific forum. Sometimes games are very laggy, sometimes these lags are because I'm usually connected via wifi, not via a network cable
. This notebook is doomed. I have 2 threads on this forum regarding this issue: windows explorer keeps crashing. I've been to the shop several times, they've replaced the motherboard and later the HDD, I've done countless factory resets, but the problem is still there.

Anyway, this is not a review on my notebook. there are some games coming out later this year, like Battlefield 4 and GTA V, and of course more games will come out after that which I'll also want to play with at least 30fps and decent looking graphics. I also want FSX to run at these frames with nice looking graphics.i do not want a super computer at all, I just want my built computer to perform better than my current notebook at gaming, and making me think "ohmygodohmygod this runs so smooth and this looks so nice ohmygod!" every time I play on it.

• I want a computer that performs better than my current notebook, at gaming. I'll keep the notebook for the rest. And I want to build a computer because I think it will be fun doing it
• I haven't got a very high budget, but if I sell my Playstation which I bought and almost never use I might be able to get some extra money.
• I need everything: case, motherboard, CPU, Power supply, (cooling fan), DVD drive, video card, motherboard, monitor (at least 15,7"), keyboard, and everything that I forgot here.

(Now that I'm writing all of this down, I make myself look very spoiled...)

These are the specs of my notebook, the newly built computer will have to perform better: (If any more specs are needed, just ask and I'll try and look it up)
ASUS X53SC/K53SC
15,7" Monitor
Intel Core i5 Processor @2.3GHz, with Turbo Boost up to 2.7GHz
nVidia GeForceGT500 MX Video Card
4GB RAM

My initial budget will only be around €350, for the pc only, excluding monitor, keyboard etcetera. (I'm 15, don't expect me to be a billionaire :) ) Maybe I'll adjust this to a higher or lower amount of money.

Thanks a LOT for reading, hope you're still alive when you read the whole thing.
Thanks,
David

If all that was asking for advice on building a PC, follow the link supplied by Flight Sim Guy.
You're not going to build a PC that will render a good (decent perhaps) gaming experience with that budget.
Add $100 for Windows 7 or use a free Linux OS.
Monitor-Keyboard-Mouse will also need to be included in the total price.

At that budget, you cannot build a desktop that will significantly outperform your laptop. You'll need around €150 or more.

Sample component list to outperform on a budget:

Phenom II x4 965 CPU
Gigabyte/ASUS 970 Mobo
8gb (2x4gb) DDR3-1600 RAM
650 Ti
550w XFX PSU
500gb+ 7200 RPM HDD

Thanks for your comments!
Yes, I was expecting it to be too little money. I have got a keyboard but that's not a very high quality one. I'll start with that though so I can upgrade later. The display needs to be at least 15,6 inches. I mostly use headphones, so speakers don't need to be of extreme quality, but I'll first focus on the PC itself and what's inside the case. For the operating system I prefer Windows 7, I don't know the exact differences between the versions but I've got Home Premium and I don't feel like I miss anything.
I got this from somewhere, but I have no experience with this kind of things at all. Is this good?

1GB XFX Radeon HD 7770
Intel Pentium G850, Socket 1155, Dual Core, 2.90GHz
LiteOn IHAS124-04 24x DVD±R
Fractal Design Core 1000
500W Storm Silent LPJ19-25
MSI H61M-P31 (G3) Motherboard
4GB Corsair Value DDR3 PC3-10600 (1333)
500GB Seagate ST500DM002 Barracuda SATA 6Gb/s, 7200rpm

Primary concern with that list is the very poor quality PSU.
You want to be at 620W with a good quality PSU for a 7770 GPU.
The Mobo is also lower quality. Asus or Gigabyte for quality reliability, support.
You want a matched pair of RAM (2x2 or 2x4GB) to take advantage of Dual Chanel Mode and it's performance.
Look over the suggested build list. UK priced builds are toward the bottom of the page.

You should be able to find a Phenom II x4 CPU for nearly the same price as a G850. Can you order from UK sites?

Average FPS on some games may not be far off, which is what the g850 reviews all focus on, but a quad-core will prove far superior for multitasking, which will also reduce stuttering. Dual-core CPUs are much more prone to stuttering in-game.

8gb (2x4gb) is preferred for RAM atm.

A 650 Ti will outperform the HD 7770 and require a little less power, allowing you to trade off the small cost difference.

Overall, I recommend saving up a little more and getting a more solid build than your list in post #5 that won't disappoint you as much down the road.
