In hard drives, what are buffers?

What you tring to say, I don't help out!........just joking :D
People don't know what processor clocks, cache, buffers, texture
mapping, polygons so on and so forth. So when I read this, I was
shocked that johnwill hit it write on the money.....

Yeah thats what I'm saying. Just kidding. I said there are a lot of good helpers here that know their stuff.
