Hello:

I have the following equipment:

MB P4VM800
CPU Pentium 4 3.0 GHz
512 MB RAM
1 80GB Maxtor 6L080L0 HDD
1 DVD drive

OS:Windows XP SP3

BIOS temps:

CPU 60oC
M/B 37oC
CPU Fan Speed 2463 RPM
Chassis Fan speed N/A
Vcore 1.354V
+3.30V 3.370V
+5.00V 5.148V
+12.00V 12-129V

I'm getting the BSOD often and the event viewer reports a lot of:

Event_ID:11
Source:Disk
Description:The driver detected a controller error on \Device\Harddisk0\D.

Event_ID:5
Source:atapi
Description:A parity error was detected on \Device\Ide\IdePort0.

I bought a new IDE cable and didn't make a difference.

I ran SeaTools for Windows and the results were the following:

11/20/2009 5:16:37 PM
Model: Maxtor 6L080L0
Serial Number: L22WZ8EG
Firmware Revision: BAJ41G20
SMART - Pass 11/20/2009 5:16:37 PM
Short DST - Started 11/20/2009 5:16:46 PM
Short DST - Pass 11/20/2009 5:18:02 PM
Long DST - Started 11/20/2009 8:03:18 PM
Long DST - Pass 11/20/2009 8:44:46 PM

So basically all the test passed so I think the hard disk is not the problem.

Anyone knows what else could be causing then BSOD and the Event_ID 11 errors?

By the way this PC has a fresh copy of Windows XP SP3 installed. I reinstalled it thinking it may be a OS issue but apparently it isn't.

Thanks and any help is appreciated

I'm not sure. You could simply get it from the screen the next time the problem occurs.

For the errors in the event log, you try updating or reinstalling the motherboard drivers.

I don't know if this is of importance but I'm posting some of the results of the Aeo3 HD Smart Lite utility:

My brand new WD HDD shows:

ULTRADMA CRC ERROR RATE
---------------------------
RawDec 0
Trshld 0
Worst 200
Value 200

Maxtor HDD (the one with the BSOD)

RawDec 17802
Trshld 0
Worst 1
Value 42

In the system events, you can filter for errors so you don't see all the info's and warnings. The debugger report is pretty much useless, the debug manager didn't load it's symbol library correctly and the event IDs are pretty generic, easier to troubleshoot witht he stop error info

I ran memtest for 38 minutes and it showed 26 errors.

Can this be the main problem even when the event viewer is reporting a lot of hard disk errors?

Thanks
