I am working on a friends Hp DV6000 Laptop with XP sp2. After removing XP Antivirus from it, both IE6 and Firefox started having issues. I can open my IE and it will go to google (homepage), but will not go to any second page. I can reset homepage to another page and it will go there one time after I restart the IE browser. Firefox gives me an error that says "connection to the server was reset while page is loading". I have run MalwareBytes and Adaware. Adaware stops and reboots the computer about halfway through scan. I cannot load spybot because it needs to update to run. All necessary services appear to be on, although I might have missed something. I tried to repair IE6 using scannow in a command line prompt but don't have XP CD to pull files from.
