I have a craftsman mower with a b&s 18.5hp intek ohv motor that seized up last year due to low oil. I tore motor apart and found the connecting rod was broke I replaced the rod and put new rings on piston. I out everything together and adjusted the valves and motor was turning over and not running with back firing out the carb.so I adjusted the valves again and it ran for 10 seconds (rough) and shut off now back to square one not running. I'm going to change spark plugs with I get off work. Intake valve is adjusted to .0004 and exhaust was .005 to .006. Has new carb and new fuel line. Also the marks are aligned on crankshaft and flywheel.

Check your flywheel woodruff key to see if it is sheared or not. BTW there is no timing between the flywheel and crankshaft. I would think you mean between the crankshaft and camshaft right?

Right the marks on camshaft and the crankshaft. I tried starting it lastnight and it backfired and blew smoke and oil was shooting out the exhaust lm puzzled on why it's pouring oil from exhaust the piston rings are new.
