Brand Newly built computer won't power up

Hey, I am super frustrated and at my witts end.

I have just gotten done building my own computer, and it won't even start.

The thing is, sometimes when I try and power it up, a light will turn on, and thats it. Leading me to believe that the Power Supply is fine, and also that maybe the motherboard is also okay.

Please help, any suggestions, to what the problem may be. Every part is brand new and I believe that it is set up correctly, my friend and I both worked on it.

My important specs are:

Case: Raidmax Smilodon
PSU: Raidmax 500w (came with case)
Processor: AMD Athlon II
Motherboard: Gigabyte 785GMT-USB3

Please help, I have no idea what to do!!!! (It's even my birthday today and this happens :(...)

Bench test

Are you running a video card as well?
yes I am, sorry. And I'm running a Gigabyte Radeon HD 4670 1 GB DDr3 video card.

I have found out that if i remove the outlet cord from the computer, and flip off the back power switch, then insert the cord again, and then turn on the switch again, and then finally press the power button that a light flickers and turns back off again. This happened every time i tried the above. The way the lights are hooked up to the power supply, it may not even go through the motherboard, making me think that my mobo might be dead even before it got its use,

any ideas?

PSU's that come included with cases are low quality junk they are trying to get rid of.

I would still suggest bench testing it....and see if you can borrow another psu to try
that makes sense to me, I will see if I can bench test it, and test another psu. but do you guys think that it might be in the wire? Refer to my last post.
I believe it to be under powered and or has a short...let us know how the bench test works out.

Future reference use a corsair or seasonic 550w psu

You know I was kinda thinking the same thing. I'm glad to hear that you think so too.
