My computer is homebuilt, and every time I try to boot it up, I get to the intial screen that says:

Press DEL to run Setup
Press F8 for BBS POPUP

and the whole thing freezes. No keyboard commands work, though all lights on the tower are active.

Pressing DEL or F8 BEFORE getting to that screen yields a change:

Entering Setup...

or

Go-! > Boot Menu

respectively, and it freezes once again.

Any suggestions?

CPU: Intel Pentium 4 2.4GHz

The computer's only about 2 years old.

Um, I can't access my BelArc profile...because my computer won't boot up.....

How do I access the bios?

256 MB of RAM

Got that from hitting Pause Break while my computer was booting.

NEW INFO:
Can't access my BIOS.
Looked up three different keys to open it, and none work.

reset the cmos
turn the computer off
remove the power lead from the back
take the side off
remove the cmos battery
move the cmos jumper from pins 1 and 2 to pin 2 and 3 and the back to pins 1 and 2
replace the battery
put the side on
replug in the power lead
boot the computer

there can be 2 solder points you touch with a screwdriver
2 pins you touch with a screwdriver or use a jumper
a cmos clear switch or button
there will be a diagram and instructions in your manual

look at the label on the side of the power supply for the details
