Hi, I'm back. After the helpful advise I got over the last few days I thought I would have a go at my Acer Ferrari 3400. I check the ram and found one stick was faulty so I replaed it. All went ok until after I uploaded XP pro service pack 3. It asked me to restart the laptop which I did but when it had passed the first screen that askes you if you want to press F2 for the boot screen it went black and a message came up

Boot Error!
Press any key to boot.

When any key is pressed nothing happens, any ideas please.

With service pack 3 being so new and you have just installed it I believe the best way to fix this for you and possibly for someone else with this problem is to contact Microsoft about this since the support is free and the techs are trained for this particular service pack.
