Boot disk

I need a boot disk (floppy) for Windows ME. I'm trying to restore the original cd. The cdrom drive is inoperable but I do have a cdrw drive that functions fine. I can't get the computer to boot from the cdrw drive to do a restore. Can anyone help me with this? This is an older computer that my daughter is using only for minor internet abilities so I don't really want to replace the cd rom drive at this time.
HELP!!!!!

Cruise over to Bootdisk and you'll find a number of boot disk images, one just for you. :)
Thanks, but I had already tried this. It will only help in startup of the computer...unless I'm doing something wrong. I need to be able to boot from my cdrw to RESTORE the original factory cd. Help again???

If the inoperable CD Drive is still in the machine remove it.

Then put the CD-RW in it's place and make sure it's jumpered the same as the one you removed.

With some of these older machines it was common to have to boot to a restore floppy that came with the machine and then reboot to the CD when prompted.

If this was not the case with yours try looking in the bios and change the boot sequence to boot to CD-Rom first.
Thank you so much. I will try this today and let you know how it works!! I didn't even think about moving the cdrw to the first slot!!!
It worked!!! Thank you so much. We now have the computer up and running at factory condition (except for the first cdrom!!). Appreciate you guys more and more everyday!

Posting your problem on someone else's thread is considered poor forum etiquette...........

But seeing how Donna's issue was resolved we will move on to yours.

Go here and download the Win. ME boot disk. After downloading it put a new freshly formatted floppy into your floppy drive. Then double click the file you downloaded and it will create a Win. ME Boot Disk.

Make sure you use the one that is from the picture of a red floppy.

After creating the disk just put it in your computer and boot to it choosing start computer with CD-Rom support.
:bear: Sorry about posting to someone elses thread. first time user. was not sure how or where to post. seemed logical place. how do I make a new post when I have a problem?? please be patiened I will learn. even us seniors have a learning curve :)

When your looking thru the topics and you pick one out, Lets say you want to start your own thread in motherboards. Click the motherboards topic and when it opens up you'll see "New Thread" on the top right of the list, Click on that and and put in a subject and then in the big box below that you can enter your information.

If you need more help let me know...............:D
