Hello to whoever finds me...

I recently completely rid my Toshiba Notebook of all spyware and malware with the assistance of one of the teachers in the HJT Forums...
My computer is popup free and running FAST once again...

In the midst of the numerous shutdowns and reboots that I had to do as part of the process I developed a problem...

My notebook will not power off on its own.
I go through the normal process
Start>Shut Down> (Shut Down in Drop down menu) OK...and XP Shuts itself down...

After confirmation that Windows XP has shut down my screen goes blue and I have to press and hold the power button down for 5-10 sec to get it to turn off!!!

Blue screens worry me (probably from the urban legends...lol) so I am seeking help to fix this little bug that has crept up...is it hardware??? software???

Any help is appreciated!!!
Thank You

It sounds like you have a hung appliication. Make sure that all of your applications are shut down completely prior to shutting down windows. Let me know if this helps.

No applications open...windows XP fully shuts down and then goes to a blank blue screen...

I will check the microsoft website provided and see what they say...

Try running the following command from the run menu. It is a long shot but you never know... SFC /scannow
