Dear All,

I have a very strange problem ever since connecting to the internet.

When I want to remove my Sony DVD RW, I always get a blue screen of death and I have no idea why.

I use Windows XP and my computer is Satellite M60 laptop. I got zone alarm security suite up and running before I connected to the internet and I use firefox for web browsing...

I believe the following are the error codes:

Error code 1000007e, parameter1 c0000005, parameter2 806ee753, parameter3 f7cbac28, parameter4 f7cba924.

Any help greatly appreciated...

0x0000007E SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED A driver is incompatible or it is damaged.

Make sure you have the latest drivers for the CD/DVDrom

Click 'Start' >> 'Run'.

In 'Run' type "devmgmt.msc" without the quotes and click OK.

In Device Manager look for yellow (!) or red Xs

To view an error code, double-click the name of a device with a yellow exclamation point (!) or a red X superimposed on the icon at the left of the device name. The Properties window for each device driver includes several tabs. If an error condition applies to this device, the Device Status section of the General tab contains an Error Code and message.

Dear All,

Many thanks for your replies. Actually my device driver all looks fine. No error message except when exiting DVD RW.

However I solved my problem. Because the only thing that has happened is I installed Zone Alarm Secuity Suite. So I removed the software and did a system restore to get my system restored prior to installation of zone alarm. Now I don't get blue screen of death when I try to remove DVD RW.

I DID get a blue screen of death when I tried to uninstall Zone Alarm though. so I suspect there is something which Zone Alarm did that is causing conflict in my laptop.

Anyone experienced the same thing? What other firewall software do you recommend other than Zone alarm?
