Blue Screen of death problem

952 Views 2 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  charterwise
have recently started getting the Blue Screen Of Death.
Mainly it happens when I have gone on a website such as YouTube.
Occasionally it happens at other times.

First the computer freezes. Then the message comes up. (It's not on long enough to read all the message or codes.

The message starts something like:
A thread has been excited or terminated and your computer will be shut down to prevent further damage etc. etc.
It ends with: Beginning of physical memory dump.

I have my firewall, antivirus and anti-spyware all enabled.
I have also scanned with Spybot and nothing is ever found.

I am using Windows XP Media Edition

I then have to re-boot and then everything is OK but I also have to leave the computer idle for a few minutes until the hard disk light stops.

Can anyone please advise?

All help much appreciated

Sorry but I cannot find such a folder within the Windows folder.

I have found a strange folder on the C: drive but NOT in the Windows folder.
The folder is named found.000 inside this folder there is another folder that is named dir0000.chk

c:\found000\dir0000.chk

Inside the dir000.chk folder there are 2 html files, 2 image files and one just called file. All of these files have strange names including letters (both upper and lower case), numbers, tilde signs and they all end with [2] or [3].

Could this be anything to do with the blue screen of death.
