ok so i got home from a trip and turned on my monitor (i left my computer running) and my mcaffee told me i needed to restart so i did and when i did it shutdown and upon reboot it blue screened with the error message stop:0x0000007e (0xc0000006, 0x80696c12, 0xba4e76e4, 0xba4373e0):upset: so i booted into safe mode to see if i could fix this when i was in safe mode i realized that for some unknown reason i had no sound so i went to my sounds and audio devices control panel and it says no audio device and the defaults are set to modem #1 Line Playback i have unistalled and re- installed the driver for my sound card multiple times to no avail i tried to open mcaffee to see if it was a virus or something but when i opened it it closed automatically, also i have restored back to the earliest available restore point run spybotSD and nothing has fixed this problem (audio or blue screen not sure if they are related)I have ran Hijackthis and fixed what it recommended. someone please help

read these sticky's/tutorials and follow the instructions. then post a hijackthis log. you can do all that here at techsupportforums. i don't know who helped you with your hijackthis, but i hope they didn't do damage. that work should be left up to a trained analyst.
there is a website called aumha that specializes in error messages. i don't know if it's .com, .net, or .org. if you find aumha, they may inform you about the error you received.

Hi telliston...

I'll be glad to look at this for you - but please do the following:

1. Start your own thread in the XP forum
2. Locate some minidump files for me - they should be in c:\windows\minidump and have file names such as Mini020408-01.dmp
3. Copy them to your desktop
4. Rename them so their file extensions are .txt instead of .dmp
5. Attach the .txt files to your post in your new thread
6. Send me a PM with a link to your thread

I'll then run the dump files through a debugger and try to determine the cause of your BSOD.

regards. . .
