Hi all , I have a friends toshiba satellite 1800-921 laptop which he has dropped and no longer works. The problem is the laptop powers up when swithced on but does not POST and shows no activity from the hard drive, black screen and no BIOS ....any ideas gratefully received. Already removed the battery and discharged all power and reinsered the battery.
Thanks Shaun

The likelyhood is, when it was dropped either a component or cable connection came loose internally. This would mean removing the case to investigate.
Have you tried plugging an external monitor in and booting? (the screen may have died on impact)

Hi Stressfreesoul and Dai
I tried using a monitor but this did not work , I have since stripped the laptop down completely and found slight damage to a capaciter housing.I have put the laptop back together and found the same problem. I have removed the hard drive and used a casing to copy all the data to another laptop. I think any further investegation would then require a solution involving costs with the age of the laptop not really justifying this. Thankyou for your help it has been an enjoyable but frustrating learning curve ! thanks again
Shaun
