hi, i think i have a bad BIOS what do you think??
about a week ago i updated my BIOS to an unofficial BIOS it was a CheepoBIOS i have an ECS K7S5A i did this because i wanted FastWrites and i also wanted to overclock my system however about a week after i did this my computer would start freezing or would just reset itself but not boot back up so when it did this i would just restart it and one time when i restarted it i had to set the BIOS values again and i did but when i quit out of it it froze only showing "AMI BIOS" at the top right hand of the screen so i reset it but it did not boot up, it would turn on all the fans would go and the hard drive would make its startup noise but nothing would come up on the screen so i changed video cards, nothing, then i took the video card out all together and i got no beep so then i took the ram out no beep then i took the cpu out and no beep so then i put everything back in except for the video card and it beeped so i put the video card in and it booted up however when i got to the windows screen it froze so then i reset it but it wouldnt boot up, i was wondering if i had a bad BIOS and if so can i fix this or buy a replacement or would i just be better off buying another mobo??

Well it sounds like the upgraded BIOS didnt do too well. Are you absolutley sure you used the correct BIOS for your motherboard? You would have got it from the manufacturers site. And then followed the correct directions. You should double check, and try flashing the BIOS again to see if it corrects the problems.

And what exactly is an Unofficial Cheepo BIOS???!

well first off the Unoffical CheepoBIOS is a "hacked" BIOS ROM that you can download online to get unsupported features, the computer iteslf was working great for like a week......and as far as flashing again i would but i cant even get to the point where i can flash it again or i would.

I'm curious what kind of unsupported features can there be for bios? And hopefully you didn't download a ROM flash program from some hacker site, :no: or you might as well just start looking for a place to put your computer shaped paperweight.

You can never get the system to the point where you could use the manufacturers flash? Does it always hang now on startup now?

some added features with the new bios are: fast writes can be enabled, ability to overclock, and a bunch of other things that had no interest to me....and no i didnt use a rom flasher from a hacker site i used the official flasher from my mobo's website, with the manf. flash it just didnt have all of the features that i wanted even though there were tons more that were supported, and when i start it up everything powers up however nothing is dsplayed on the screen and the hard drive only makes its startup sound and that is all
