Ok so I tried to flash my motherboard (Gigabyte K8NS Pro Socket 754) from within Windows (Vista Ultimate) and it got to 87 percent and had an error. so now I have a partially functioning bios with no way of getting to the built in dual bios flashing utility. So my question is, can I make a floppy with an autorun batch file that has a flashing utility on the disk with the bios, so that I can bring this thing back from the dead? or do I need to buy a new motherboard/send it in for repair? Thanks in advance.

Hi Chris3000

Yes you can exchange the ROM Chip (BIOS Chip) but you will have to get the same exact chip for your Mobo. It also has to be compatible enough to remove the chip without hurting the mobo. You will need a special tool called a chip remover to do such a thing. Then you would have to resotter on with a blow torch, the new chip. I have never done so as the best fix for this is just buy a new Mobo.
