Bios and reformatting

780 Views 3 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  crazijoe
I may need to run my system restore because the tech support idiots from gateway deleted something from the registry that I have not yet been able to repair. The only problem is when I first rec'd my computer the bios were wrong and my friend flashed the bios for me. He gave me a copy of the CD. Now I live over 1000 miles from him and I'm afraid to flash 'em myself, but he says BIOS are firmware and running the system restore CD will not change them. IS this true? He is a self educated computer geek and I've seen him make mistakes so I just want to check first... Thanks!!

bios

He gave you a copy of what CD?
the new BIOS are on a CD- he put them it- and he has them saved on my computer in a folder but if I run the restore that will be gone.
If the CD only contains the BIOS, this will not do you any good. Can you boot into the OS?
