i was installing a game (jediknight 2) and my comp messed up half way through so when i restarted the computer it said the game was installed but when clicked on didnt work so i uninstalled it but the mane file folder
c:\programfiles\lucasarts\jediknight II was still there i tried to delete it but it said cannot delete jedi knight II
cannot find the specified file make sure you specify the corect path and file name and so when i tried to reinstall the game it uses the installshield wizard and it said it was loading then when it was all loaded it asked if i wanted to remove the selected application and all its components so i said yes it said it did then i did it again and it said the same thing (i tried it like 10 times) any way then i went into add/remove programs and sure enough in the list it said jediknight II but it had no size like it wasnt there then i clicked remove it ran through the normal removel thing but when it was fineshed jediknight II was still there so im stuck and i cant install my game any sugestions
oya and i cant install over it because it uses the installshield wizard to install it so when ever i click install it uses the wizard to check and instead of installing it wants to uninstall

hey there west1200us and welcome to the forums

i would suggest you try removing it from the registry yourself. but be careful not to alter anything else, cuz that could cause lots more problems, so whatever you do back up you regestry file first. I assume you know how to edit the reg file but just in case, i'll give you a short walk through....

first of all, what version of windows are you using?

step 1

(if win 95/98/xp/me/ ) in any case, click the start menu, then click "run"....then type regedit and press enter, that should open up your registry

step 2

in the list on the left, click "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE"...you should then get subfolders....in those subfolders, click on "SOFTWARE"....here you would get more subfolders

step 3

these subfolders are all the programs you've installed on your machine...find the one for JEDIKNIGHT 2...you would do this by looking for the folder with the name of the manufacturer of your game...probably called LUCASARTS, i wouldnt be too sure,

step 4 (final step)

once you find the file and are 100% sure it belongs to that game, you can safely delete it. then close up the regestry, restart your computer and reinstall the game....delete the old game directories first.....enjoy

REMEMBER, Back up your regestry file first before attempting anything.....to do this, just click file, then export and save somewhere...

let me know how it goes
