Big Problems

759 Views 1 Reply 2 Participants Last post by  sUBs
(I posted this in the XP forum, and someone told me I should post it here, so here it is :D)

Hello everyone! Lately, I have been having some annoying problems with my computer.

It all started about two weeks ago or so. One day I came onto my computer, then to IE, and noticed this strange toolbar. Immeaditly I knew it wasn't good. At first I just hid it, but after a while I started getting popups everywhere, even when I wasnt on the internet.

So that was the last straw for me, I clicked on a button, and hit uninstall and it went away. I think that was my major mistake.

(This was elitebar, btw.)

So I thought my troubles were over, but no no, they weren't. Even after it was gone I will still recieving multiple popups which became a nuisance. After a few more days, I got another extremely similar toolbar, except this time when I hit unistall it took me to a site, and I knew it would just make it worse.

So, after a while it just got too annoying. I started downloading multiple adware removers, but none of them worked, or it was a trial so I couldnt actually remove anything. I was fed up. Finally I found some sites which gave tutorials on how to get rid of elitebar. None of the sites helped.

Basicly I was able to remove it for a few days (Ctrl Alt Delete > Programs), and removing names such as "Pokapoka" and "Qokim", but alas later it came back, with a new button.

After a long time of extreme annoyance, I realized that this may not be elitebar. I clicked on the uninstall button again, and it took me to a site called yupsearch.com. I ran a google search for "Yupsearch" and found a topic about it on this site. I used some of the tips given there, and it got rid of it, but I have a feeling it'll come back, and I have a feeling theres more than just yupsearch on my computer.

Here is my Hijack This! Logfile

Please tell me how to remove this nuisance permenantly!!!

Also, I mentioned how I had two problems. Heres the second,

Around midway through my adware/searchbar problem, I got a notice from my computer saying I hardly had any diskpace left on my C drive. I was a bit shocked, as I have a uber hardrive, but I admitted that I had a lot of large games, and many large files on my computer. I went to add/remove programs, but that wasn't helping at all, so I removed it by force (went to my C drive and manually deleted the folders). I got rid of a lot of stuff, and a lot of big files such as the Sims 2, and Roller Coaster Tycoon 3. Yet, a few days later, it still insists I have no room left. I have completeled deleted almost all of my .mp3 and .mpg files (trust me I had over 600), now I have around 50. I got rid of more games, and more files, yet it STILL says I have absolutely no room!

What is wrong? Is it the adware? Is it a virus of some sort? Or do I really have no room on my comptuer? Am I removing my files in an incorrect way?

If you guys could help me Id be forever in your debt!

Thanks!

Download Trend Micro™ Anti-Spyware (by clicking the "Scan and Clean your PC" button).
  • Double-click the tmas-web-scan.exe icon
  • It will say "Loading TrendMicro definitions".
  • Click "Start Scan"
After it's done scanning, click "Scan Results"
  • Make sure all items found have a check next to them, then click "Clean Threats Now".
  • Click Exit.
Reboot your computer. I then need you to repeat the same procedure above again... using the TrendMicro tool. I need the log from the second scan/clean...NOT the first...as this will contain what’s left in the system.

In place of the TrendMicro icon will be a text file called "Antispyware.log", please double-click that log and copy the entire contents and paste them here.
