Here's the deal. My company will loan me up to $2000 to buy a $2500 dollar PC including software. This will be interest free for 18 months and will be paying them back at a rate of $2000/39 or 51.00/paycheck.

The catch is I can't buy components and assemble them myself.

So, if I were to go whole hog, and look for a $2500 system ... which one would you recommend?

Other catches: No game cards & accessories. No PDA's, cell phone, etc. No Game software. No extended warranties.

Personal business software is allowed, as well as educational, project management, blah blah blah.

Assume the following: I don't play computer games (no time). No need to overclock. Would like to have future expandability & upgradability. Nice monitor would be nice. M$ Windows - XP Pro preferably (I'm working on learning Linux, but I'm not there yet). I don't really care about getting a lot of software - I want to max out the hardware.

Thanx!

What about dell? I always see coupons on hot deals sites for them. 10% off and stuff like that. Sometimes the codes are stackable with other discounts.

I'm looking @ the Dell website at their computers. Which one?

Pretend I am a client and I come to you and say, I have $2500 dollars and I want a "name brand" system. Which one should I buy?

That is a good system for the money. Does it include monitor? I would get a better video card but you're not a gamer so it makes no differents. But I would buy that system.

Drifters, I went with minimum components/ default components so I could max out on the Processor w/ decent amount of RAM.

Does it have to be a brand name?

You can get really good systems at

http://www.ibuypower.com

for that kind of money you can get a really nice system!

Sony has some really nice systems!! I just love sony electronics so I am partial to them.

I don't think it has to be a name brand. So shop for me! ;) Which one would you go for?

One thing I've thought of - is it better to go for the fastest processor/memory/board system and then use minimal components - looking to customize further after it's in my possession?

Or

Get a balanced system with parts known to work together and have the full tech support of the manufacturer?
