Seems low!

Ran one for my new system yesterday and it seems like you have a problem somewhere. What type of memory (single, dual) what speed?

Got 6300 based on the following:

P4C800-e (latest bios update (1010)
2.6C Processor (800)
ATI (Sapphire 9200) latest ATI Drivers
Corsair XMS3200C2 Plat 512 - dual channel activated
WD SE 80 GB 8MB 7200

Bios settings stock, Video settings stock

When you installed the memory did you stagger - basically enable dual channel by putting one stick into the first then third slots? Is the memory matched (same memory timings) and finally what brand?

Did you run any other benchmark tests - SI Sandrasoft? You can download the basic version for free. Try the memory bandwidth, etc. and see how your numbers compare to other processors in SI's list - post some of your basic numbers.

Are you using the stock bios settings (spec memory timings) or are you attempting to overclock?

When I manually entered my memory timings from the preset I increased my benchmark results by about 7-10%.

It may not be the motherboard but the video card settings - check your AGP size - Asus sets it to 64mb when with your card it should be 128 to 256 - again with my lowly 9200 changing the AGP size made a difference - although not all that much - maybe 250 pts on the 3dMark.

Ok, well to get to the BIOs you press the DEL (delete key) when the machine is first turned on. First you probably need to update your bios to the latest version from ASUS (you're going to have to read the manual for this one because you can really mess things up). The bios is on a chip not on your harddrive - if you didn't know. Update to the latest 1010 from ASUS, also get the latest video drives from the manufacturer of the video board

The link below will allow you do download the basic version of
SandraSoft which will benchmark your memory as well as other things.

Once you update the BIOS and video driver then run a benchmark. The BIOS and DRIVER that come with your rig are probably a little buggy since the MOBO is pretty new and others have had problems with the ORIG BIOS versions.
