Was so impressed with the dialog of "Keefan" and "chemist" about the Yandex.ru invasion, all four pages, that I decided to join... but then discovered that I was already a member, just hadn't visited since 2010!!! So I want to give my heartfelt compliments to "chemist" for his Knowledge and Patience in resolving the members Yandex.ru problem as well as some others. I really learned a LOT!! and so I know where to come, TechSupport Forum, when I am in big trouble.

I also discovered something that could help folks in the future. In this Yandex problem, when the patient computer was rebooted, it wouldn't! So the patient had to be taken back to a restore point to start... and that brought on the problem again. With incredible patience, "chemist", without pause, said that they had to start from scratch again, and he Very professionally took the patient thru the whole process again! I have to admire his tenacity and patience and symbolically shake his hand!

If possible, then, I might suggest, if available, to have access to TWO computers... the patient and another, just in case the "treatment" doesn't allow the patient to continue, then access from another computer would be helpful and might save having to Restore to an earlier date when maybe a Repair disk could have worked... and thus saved what I am sure is more hours of flogging the patient.

In fact, I want to post on the appropriate Forum about a problem that I am having that "chkdsk" will not run at startup, in SafeMode or anyway, and it informes me that the drive is "locked because of the installation of a previous program" but doesn't give a clue as to what that program was, just instructs to uninstall it. So if "chemist" or any of the other fine geeks respond, I am sure I will be able to run chkdsk in less than 15 minutes!
